Title: Real-Time Systems Using Fieldbuses
Author(s): Siegfried Cojocaru   Constantin Radoi   Svetlana Rau

Abstract: Fieldbuses contain a large number of devices interconnected together to perform the desired operations covering a large range; examples include industrial, building automation, office and home automation, intelligent vehicle systems, and advanced aircraft and spacecraft. In this paper, there is simulated a seven node network which runs on CAN and Ethernet protocols. Traffic induced in the network, time delay history of messages, the network temporal behavior are analyzed with respect to the capability of both protocols to support time-critical application.

Keywords: real-time systems, controller area network, distributed systems, fieldbus.
